We have been painting my daughter's room this past week. Well I say "we" she helped me the first few days. I finished painting on Sunday. At the end of the last few days I would say all I have left is a few "touch ups" and that would turn into painting the whole wall again or the trim again. I wanted to make it look like we had a "real" painter come in and do it. I just wanted to make it look good for her. I know I went around the trim on the ceiling five or six times trying to fix the place that didn't look just right only to sometimes ending up making a bigger mess. I kept finding more and more things that could be painted. The cabinet in the closet, the coat rack and a bookshelf. We painted the room a purple with black trim. Its the kind of purple that when the light is on it is bright but when the light off it is calming. On Sunday, Jim got in there with me to do the final touches. He painted the ceiling fan black (which looks fabulous), he replaced the outlets and the switches all to match and he hung her mirror back up. When it was all done I felt so good!! I was so proud of the way the room turned out after all the hard work. It was beautiful! I couldn't wait for her to see it!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
We painted my stepdaughter's room sonic plum when we bought our house a little less than a year ago. It is definitely a rewarding feeling. Granted, it is the only room we have painted so far. It is fun to see her face when she walks into her "new" room. She identifies with it and it is a place she can call her own! I think children should be able to have a say in the way their room looks. I believe it helps them settle in and it gives them a way to express themselves. Congratulations on finishing your project. I am hoping to start a new room soon. I will let you know how that turns out.
ReplyDeleteNice job. I know it's nice when you finish to sit back and look at all your hard work. I know I'm the type that is great at starting a project and never finishing it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could paint my daughter's room purple! (We live in base housing, so painting would just be a hassle that I would have to go back and paint it the origional color.) Purple is definitely my favorite. I love that you did black trim on it. You should post a picture so we all can see it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that you are satisfied with your hard work! I always have big plans but never accomplish anything. It is so much easier to hire someone to do the things you do not want to do. This convenience has spoiled me!
ReplyDeleteI spent the second summer in my house ripping up carpet and painting walls. I'm thinking it's about time to paint a bit more and to tile the bathroom and dining/kitchen floors.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
